シドニー大学のMacleay Museumで1923年にシドニー大学で行われた「汎太平洋学術会議」の三年後、シドニー大学ではラドクリフ＝ブラウンを主席教授に迎え、人類学科を発足させたという。オーストラリアや太平洋諸島に関する人類学者の視点を写真や物質文化を用いて展示しているという。
